So I've decided to not use freewebs anymore. Guess what, you get it all here. :3
Rules
Literate, please. A proper grasp of the English language and its ins and outs does the mind good.
I don't have any limits, and when I say that-- I mean no limits. Psychopath killers, pedophiles, drugs all over the place, kinky sex, BDSM, abuse, cheating? These topics have all come up in my role plays. If you have limits, TELL ME-- anything and everything.
I expect this to be long term. This means months or years, not days or weeks. This is assuming we mesh well and everything, of course.
Straight is my favorite. I do slash, but not by itself. I get kind of bored of doing slash. -shrug- It's just a personal preference, you know?
Also along the lines of pairings, I do more than pairings. Polyamory, yay. However, I want them to have an actual relationship, not just have a bunch of sex.
Doubling is my favorite option. I honestly think things tend to get a little boring with only two main characters and not even secondary characters. Of course, not everyone and not every plot lends itself to doubling, so if you talk it out with me politely, I'm sure we can find some roles for us all to agree on.
I'm uncomfortable role playing with anyone under fifteen. It's a personal preference. Sorry.
Speaking of ages, this is where I get bitchy. If you have a character that's under twenty-one, you better play them realistically. The most popular ages I see (eighteen to twenty-one) don't work with most of the plots and settings I do. They just don't. Most of my plots call for experience/knowledge/skill/connections/seniority that eighteen to twenty-one year olds just don't generally have.
This is not to say that young characters are completely banned from my role plays; of course I don't mind them as a secondary character. If your main character is young, re-read the above paragraph.
I'm a stickler for realism. Or plausibility. I'll settle for plausible. Just do your research. Your character with perfect vision does not have cataracts the size of dinner plates, stop insisting he does. My future med student self weeps every time you say his "cataracts were acting up."
Hey, time for another character rant. If you use a character that is pretty much yourself, with or without being cooler than you really are, or with one or two things changed, please don't contact me. It just leads to way more trouble than it's worth.
It turns out I have the biggest beefs with original characters. For the love of whatever you love, if you use a cheap "she's so ~deep~ and ~developed~" gimmick like a girl with a boy's name for no damn reason, at least kick enough ass at everything else so I'll put up with that crap. Nicknames are one thing. Fred = Winifred, makes sense. Andy = Andrea. Sweet, yeah? But for fuck's sake, pretty much every time I've seen the female character/male name element used, it's done as a cheap shortcut to make a bland mary-sue interesting. Quit it, alright?
(My sincerest apologies to those girls out there who are really named Frederick or Andrew. I'm sure you're all very interesting and have depth to you. Those described above? Don't.)
And of course there's the blanket "Don't be a dillweed." I shouldn't even have to talk about powerplaying, godmoding, and all that.
Genres
This is where I'm going to lose a good chunk of you.
I pretty much only do modern. Futuristic just isn't my thing, and I can't get into the swing of historical dialect.
I don't do most media. The only exceptions are Firefly/Serenity and The Dark Knight... that last one along with at least half of Neopets. However, TDK needs a plot before I'll do it. I also want to try something along the lines of Black Books or Scrubs, though I doubt I'd be able to pull off the actual shows themselves.
I don't really do anything that could be considered teen. This includes schools, academies, gifted, injected with DNA, and similar.
In fact, I don't do a lot of things that are popular on Neopets. I like originality. Sure, I do some things that are popular on Neopets, but I do a lot of things that aren't common on there, either.
My favorite genre is bandom.
If there's an underlined name next to it, it means I don't like playing that person or I don't play that person well. As Mari (another girl on this site) once commented, I do better playing the stronger characters. I'm not good at the shy characters, which is rather ironic considering I'm pretty shy.
The bold is the genre, the plain text is any commentary I might have.
My Chemical Romance Mikey
Fall Out Boy
Taking Back Sunday Mark, Shaun - This one I like to do circa John and Shaun. The Fred and 'Bano era I'm more experienced with, though. I must admit I'm not familiar with Fazz'.
Panic At the Disco Spencer, Jon - but flexible. I'm getting so burnt out on these guys. I might do PATD, but only as a last resort.
The Academy Is... Carden
The Hush Sound
Brand New Jesse, Brian
Cobra Starship Nate, Alex
All Time Low
Original band
Andrew McMahon
Hayley Williams
Tyson Ritter
Travis McCoy
Michelle and/or John Nolan
Christopher Guiterrez - Yes, I know he's not strictly a musician. Shh, go with it.
Suggest a band or band member.
Settings and Everything Else
Street wise doctor/coroner/medical examiner/police/detective/law enforcement & team - Not necessarily pairing-driven. Think CSI, House, or Dexter. This is a tricky one to do without proper planning.
Alice in Wonderland-esque
Fractured or twisted fairy tales
Street Performers- Or, busking. I'm thinking circus-esque kind of performers, here, versus living statues and whatnot.
Vampires- Not the Twilight ones.
Werewolves- See the note at "vampires."
Scrubs-esque- A medical setting that focuses more on how the characters deal with everyday trials versus focusing heavily on the science side of medicine. I would love to play a Janitor-esque character.
Something Black Books-esque- Google it if you don't know what it is. I would love to play a Bernard-esque character. (Have we noticed a trend in the type of characters I like to play?)
Odd pairings - In my opinion, a pairing isn't a plot in and of itself, even though it can be a large, driving force to the plot, and some of my plots are even shorthanded into a pairing. But I treat these largely as additives; themes. Please don't ask for these by themselves. If you're interested, you can say you want a blah RP with a blah x blah pairing. These are just a few less common pairings I'm interested in trying.
Professional/Client - Not necessarily sexual professional.
Surrogate mother/Sister's husband
Librarian/Street musician
Street wise doctor/coroner/medical examiner/police/detective/law enforcement & partner/witness/victim/suspect - Think CSI, House, or Dexter.
Media
Firefly- I'd like to do this between Firefly and Serenity.
The Dark Knight- This requires a plot before I can do it. Also, I'm really pretty much just interested in playing the Joker right now. And no, I will not turn him all "happy yay pretty sue is my one true love!!!1" for you. He will be sadistic. He will cut your Sue's head off and get a kick out of it.
Plots
I have fourteen plots, most of which are mine. (the exception being 003 which is pretty much all Joss Whedon. Also of note, 002 took a good deal of inspiration from another plot, but unfortunately I cannot remember whose plot it was. If it sounds familiar, I'd be happy to give credit where it's due.) A brief summary or a few hints are given here, but for the full plot, you'll have to ask me for it.
001. The Help: Haunted house or mysterious owner. Non-romance-centric.
002. The Cafe: Snarky cafe waitress. Playboy. Potential romance. Potential for both characters to get fired from their respective jobs.
003. Firefly Esque: Basically, it's Joss Whedon's Firefly. Motley crew on a space boat, fuck yeah. Doubling required, tripling preferred, quadrupling a possibility.
004. Bartenders & Poets: Band plot. So a sleep-deprived singer/songwriter walks into a bar...
005. Doomed Romance: High school sweethearts, well, get into a romance that's doomed.
006. The Misanthropic Son of a Bitch & The Lady: Exactly what the title says.
007. The Crashers Plot: Band plot. Big band. Little band. In a house. For who knows how long.
008. Widow x Dead Husband's Best Friend: Band plot. Involves touring and cancer and lots of sappy tears and a slight suspension of disbelief. Works best with older bands, doesn't work well with younger bands like PATD and ATL. This is the one plot where I will only play the girl. I wrote it with one of my characters in mind and can't imagine playing the best friend, sorry.
009. Golf Carts: Band plot. Cute, if I may say so myself. It's very basic and works best as a way to slip an original character in, not a strict plot.
010. The Obligatory Fucked Up Wonderland plot: Very hard to explain. Potential for husband x wife's sister.
011. The Sophisticated Fight Club: Does not require viewing of the movie or reading of the book. More of a setting than anything. Non-romance-centered plot.
012. The Playboy and the Workaholic: Band plot. Sounds similar to 002, but it's not. Very love/hate. Also requires the playboy to cheat on his pregnant wife.
013. The Roommate From Hell: Romance will not be the main focus of this. It's basically the show Friends, with two people instead of six, and a lot more hostility. Tension is abound in this one.
014. She's a Maneater; Or, Cue the Soulless Lawyer Jokes: Psychic lawyers and evil minions posing as lawyers. Also involves a transgender Satan. Not romance centric.
Song Plots
So I'm being all trendy and basing plots off of songs, hooray.
Rebel, Rebel- David Bowie
Antonia- Motion City Soundtrack
Wedding Dress- Breaking Pangea / My Blue Heaven - Taking Back Sunday
Beware the Jubjub Bird and Shun the Frumious Bandersnatch- Forgive Durden
The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows- Brand New
Admit It!!!- Say Anything
The Father Who Must Be Killed- Morrissey
Girl- Built to Spill
Secondary (For the Best) (Demo) - Brand New
Contacts
As for contacts, I use e-mail the most.
[ticktockyourenotaclock] [at] [gmail] [dot] [com] is my e-mail address.
I don't use AIM for role playing as much as I used to. If you really want to role play there, tell me and all that jazz and I'll get on for you. I'll PM you my screen name.
I also have MSN and YIM. However, I use a client called Adium that links messengers over the same medium. I have no idea why, but YIM and MSN get into fights with Adium all the time. I'm never on. I don't even remember my screen names. If you want those contacts, drop me a note here and I'll grab them and get on for you.
